On this page I’ve compiled several other smaller and older projects I’ve made over the years. As I find more old photos or make new small stuff I’ll add more.
Harbinger Horn (2026)
A hunting horn decorated with ornamentation based on openwork decoration found in Gnězdovo with a crow design based on a find from Thumby-Bienebek 7. It was made and given as a token for Sir Uchtred Leifsson as the 4th Harbinger of Joy of the. Outlands.
Cordon Royale bracelets and garters (2026)
The silver bracelets were made from junk silver coils melted to ingots, hammered to shape, and stamped. The garter style cordons were made similar to my previous cordons using the same Scythian stag ornaments shown below, with rus buckles from Armour and Castings and gold leaf for the initial.
Achaxe’s Duchy Charm (2006)
On the occasion of the stepping down of Achaxe Auchata’s 2nd reign my wife suggested I make her a gift. I had thought of making a charm in the shape of a steppe culture belt plaque with a stylized strawberry leaf in the center and set out to do so. The charm is gilded sterling silver. Originally the gilding was just done with gold leaf, but month’s later I found that this began to wear from consistent use. I then replaced the gold leaf with a modern fire gilding technique using “Accent Gold for Silver” which is as close as I’ll get to historical fire gilding and has proven to hold up well to daily wear..
It wasn’t until after I had made it that I found out that it matches her coat of arms with a strawberry leaf twist perfectly! Sometimes things just work out well.
Harbinger Rangle (2026)
A viking tangle given as token for another of the premier Harbingers of Joy of the Outlands, Nerienda of Elmet. Ironwork by Eorl Mordygan MacGregor, handle (maple) by me using a similar design as the axe below.
Harbinger Bell (2026)
A brass bell given as a token for one of the premier Harbingers of Joy of the Outlands,, Mistress Ekaterina Kirkovna.
Rus Bearded Axe (2025)
The axehead is based on an axe found in Novgorod that I purchased from True History Shop. The haft is maple with carved accents inspired by another axe find from Novgorod. The blade cover is made from brass and lined with wool to protect the edge. Though not common, a small number of metal axe sheaths have been documented in the viking age.
Rus Mace (2024)
I purchased a mace head from Ukraine, cleaned it up, and mounted it on an oak haft with a brass reinforcement and leather handle.
Silver Chatelaine (2024)
I made a simple sterling silver chatelaine to add to my kit with an awl, an ear spoon, and tweezers.
Decorated Shears (2024
I purchased a pair of small iron shears and decorated them with brass and silver wire to add to my kit.
Gilded Silver Kyiv Belt (2017)
This set of belt fittings was designed not based on a find of extant fittings, but actually from a set of intact slate casting moulds found near Kyiv as described here and shown below.

Gnezdovo Helm (2004)
Made with Sir Richard of Wolfwood (Richard Jones) of Knotwolf Armory in 2004. Richard did all of the hard stuff (overall helm pattern, grille, welding) and I did the grunt work (cutting, shaping, riveting, piecework).

Scythian Stag Ornaments (1991)
These small ornaments were based on these gold Scythian ornaments.
I made the original waxes for these in college in 1992 I believe & sized to match the originals (although recently I’ve learned that the originals thinner). They have studs protruding at the back that can be peened to rivet them. I’ve used them to decorate a stave coat (body armor), my County coronet, the back of my helmet, and a pair of them in silver were soldered together and form my link on the Outlands baby knight’s chain.
